As part of "The Working Party On Suicide" republicans Jack Gielen and Kerry Bevin helped launch a petition, into an Inquiry into suicide, Parliament today.
They claimed male persecution meant the body count for males, due to suicide, was 4 times that of females.
In 2 days in Wellington, hundreds of people signed the petition. Many had direct connection to suicide, several with experience in resent days.
The secret shame and horror story of suicide can no longer be ignored.
The working party and the Republicans want greater resources for suicide investigation and are calling on Peter Dunne, who is responsible, to do so. The petitioners want much more focus and commitment on the problem and will continue to gather signatures.
